The Dancing Wings Hobby Savage Bobber is a small, lightweight foam model that is quick and simple to build. The full-size Savage Bobber was devised by the Zlin Aviation Company. The Bobber as in the motorcycle world means that it is a stripped-down, customized version of an original. The Savage Bobber is a stripped-down, customized version of its older brother the Savage Classic. It is lighter, more maneuverable, and has a slightly narrower fuselage, and the absence of covering to the rear of the fuselage greatly improves the crosswind handling.
The model is reasonably straightforward to assemble, it is manufactured in pre-painted high-quality EPP foam sheet for the majority of the construction, tough plastic for the open framework rear fuselage, and lightweight balsa for the internal structure. Carbon strips are also included to reinforce and improve the stiffness of the structure. It builds up quickly into a good-looking, fun-to-fly lightweight (only 98g) sports plane that is perfect for indoor or park flying. The Avios Tundra series of STOL sports planes has enjoyed a massive following over the years, and rightfully so, as it has been one of the best flying RC foam planes ever designed. They have an impressive flight envelope with an amazing STOL performance, and all this is coupled with a great-looking plane. The original 1300mm Tundra was followed sometime later with the launch of the 1700mm Grand Tundra, which encompassed all your favorite features but on a larger scale. This was then followed by the Grand Tundra Plus version, which kept all the original features but had improved wing servo connectors to give a stronger and more reliable connection.
We now take yet another leap forward to the 1700mm Grand Tundra 2. Like all things that evolve, there are areas that, over time, could do with a slight improvement. So, after listening to our customers and pilots, and from our own experiences, the GT2 was born, and it is better than ever. It is now a 6S setup as standard, the tail wheel has been redesigned and strengthened, the main tundra wheels have pneumatic rubber tires, it has a removable plywood battery tray with spring-loaded latch (for quick battery changes), hex-head screws all round, and a new profile, more efficient glass-filled nylon 15x8 propeller. The look of the GT2 has also changed; it has a new, striking design in the popular green and silver color scheme.
