Durafly New Release • 1100mm PNF Warbird
A Ghost From the Frozen Skies Is Coming
A lighter 1100mm RC warbird, full-metal servoless retracts with heavy-duty Oleo struts, and one unmistakable tiger-striped nose. The full reveal lands on 17 July 2026.
A Ghost from the Frozen Skies
There is a certain livery that has haunted the minds of World War II warbird enthusiasts for decades. It is not the famous shark mouth. It is something rarer, colder and even more intimidating.
We at HobbyKing have been working quietly in the back rooms of our design facility, and we are finally ready to lift the veil on our latest project. Internally, we have been calling it “The Aleutian Stripe.”
For those who know their aviation history, you’ll recognize this immediately. This upcoming 1100mm wingspan PNF(Plug-N-Fly) warbird wears a tiger-head cowling.
To our knowledge, this is the only 1100mm-scale replica of this specific variant currently in production. And we’ve rebuilt it from the ground up to solve the one problem every warbird pilot faces: grass runways.

Performance Expectations
We listened to feedback from thousands of flights from our previous generation. Here’s what you can expect from this new release:
01 • The Grass-Field Solution
Battle-Ready Landing Gear (The Grass Field Solution)
We have completely re-engineered the undercarriage. This model features full-metal, twist-and-turn servoless retracts paired with functional, spring-loaded Oleo struts.
If you fly off a grass strip, you know the pain of nose-overs. This heavy-duty setup absorbs bumps like a dream, making takeoffs and landings on rough terrain a total breeze.
02 • Lightweight EPO Performance
The “Lighter & Slower” Formula
By working with our factory to optimize the EPO foam density, we’ve shed significant weight from the airframe without sacrificing that silky, panel-line finish you expect from us.
The combination of reduced weight and massive flap surface area means incredibly stable slow-speed performance, lower stall speeds, and those “greaser” landings that earn you applause at the flight line.
03 • Warbird Sound and Speed
The Sound of Speed
We retained the rock-solid 3536 900KV brushless outrunner paired with a 45A ESC. The specific design of the 10x5 three-blade propeller creates that infamous, hair-raising "howl" that only a warbird can produce. It’s a true auditory experience
Built for Pilots Who Fly from Grass
Warbirds look spectacular in the air, but many become demanding the moment the wheels touch a rough field. This new 1100mm warbird has been developed with that real-world problem in mind.
The reinforced retract system, functional Oleo struts, lighter EPO airframe and large flap area work together to support more composed taxiing, more controlled approaches and smoother grass-field landings.
