The Hobbyking H-King Mini L-39 has been developed from an earlier version that had a 50mm fan unit. This latest rendition of the RC L-39 aircraft sports an uprated 64mm 8-blade EDF fan unit with a 2220-3300KV brushless outrunner motor, a 50A ESC, and uses a 4S LiPo battery instead of the original 3S setup. The full-size L-39 jet was designed in the Czech Republic as a high-performance jet trainer for performing basic to advanced pilot training. It was the first trainer aircraft in the world to be equipped with a turbofan.

The upgrades to this L-39 jet do not stop with the powertrain; the fuselage has been reinforced underneath, and there are covers to protect the servo horns and pushrods when landing. It also includes reinforced control surfaces to add stiffness and to reduce control flutter at high speeds. The large canopy/battery hatch is magnetically held in place, and the L-39 Albatros is finished in a brilliant new eye-catching color scheme.

This PNF (Plug-N-Fly) EPO foam model from Hobbyking is supplied with the fan, motor, ESC, and the 3 x 9g servos pre-installed. Assembly is very quick; the wing and tail components are glued into place to provide a strong, one-piece model when assembled. The 64mm 4S setup gives the L-39 jet an incredible performance, with a brilliant turn of speed and fantastic vertical climb-outs. Having just ailerons and elevator controls, it is a yank and bank style of model, but it really grooves at high speeds, and large, jet-style manoeuvres are easily performed. Along with its impeccable manners and great low-speed handling, it makes it perfect as a first-time EDF fan model, as well as a very appealing RC EDF plane for the more experienced pilot.
